CUMCM is jointly organized by the Department of higher education, Ministry of Education, China and the Chinese Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics. It is one of the four national competitions especially supported by the Ministry of Education. The first competition was held in 1992, and the competition in 2016 is the h. This has become the largest competition in national universities and the most influenced competition on basic subjects both at domestic and aboard. This year 1360 teams from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Singapore attended the competition. The purpose of the event is to motivate college students enthusiasm of learning mathematics and applied mathematics, to improve their ability of building mathematic model and solving practical problems with computers, to encourage them to participate in extracurricular scientific and technological activities, thus to broaden their knowledge and to cultivate their spirit of innovation and cooperation.
